Medium offers services in branding, identity design, print design, social media, internet marketing, communications, web design and software development. With so much to offer, Medium is not simply a web, print, or software design firm. Rather, it combines all of these things, and does all of them well, making it an integrated design firm. This allows me to work on a wide range of projects, varying in scope and difficulty.
Medium has helped me develop a love for the Web. At the same time as I started at Medium, I also began a Web Design course at UTC taught by Professor Leslie Jensen-Inman. Her "Teach the Web" curriculum gave me a solid foundation and understanding of web design and web standards-compliant XHTML and CSS. In accordance with the growing need to bridge the gap between education and industry, Medium employees visited this class and to share their experience and provide instruction and advice. Medium's dedication to community involvement sets it apart from other companies.
Furthermore, as my abilities develop, Medium provides me with design opportunities to extend my skills in new directions. The work I've done has not been limited to graphic design but also extended to development. I interned with the User Experience department, where I learned about our custom-built CMS, Message,and initially built simple splash pages. A couple of my favorite projects to date with Medium include developing a visual identity for the unCANventional Ball 2009 and designing the new website forRE:START - The Center for Adult Education.
The solid foundation Medium provides me with gives me a knowledge and understanding of the web industry that I can apply as I leave school and pursue other work. It is rare to work with a company full of so many smart and capable people. Their support and insight pushes me to become a better-informed and more dependable employee every day. Designers, developers, and programmers collaborate to build beautiful work at Medium. Perhaps Medium can do big things for you too.
