Should it really have surprised any of us?
Because communication always begins with one person sharing information with another: a business card left on the counter of a favorite breakfast joint, a campaign flyer from a neighbor seeking political change, a window decal showing support of your community CSA, a Facebook Superpoke.
Should the medium even matter?
Of course, but the message and the method have become even more important. In the last ten years we've seen the need for individuals and organizations to communicate clearly with their audiences, in a sustainable and collaborative manner, across all forms of media. In response we innovated and expanded, stumbled and matured.
“Integrated Communications Strategy!" became our cry, as we honed a set of services in branding, identity design, print design, web design, social media, online marketing, public relations and software development. We put those skills to use for some wonderful local, regional and national clients like redbox, Clarity, Chattem, Baked, EPB and Olan Mills, to name a few.
We developed tools to help our clients communicate—and manage their messages more effectively. Today, along with a name change, we're announcing the launch of our new content management system: Message. Message is more than just another CMS. It's a complete web-development platform. Very soon we'll be releasing a free, open-source version of Message so anyone will be able to take advantage of its powerful, scalable and extensible framework.
So it is with great pleasure and pride that we announce this change from Coptix to Medium. We hope you'll take a look at some of our recent work, learn a little bit about the people who make up our team, and join in dialogue with us in our news+blog.
In it you'll find an interview with Widgets & Stone on the Coptix-to-Medium branding process, Rob & James sound-off on their love of transcripts & Radmind, and Stephen Bush shares his experiences as a Medium intern.
Our sincerest thanks to each and every one of the clients and partners we've had the pleasure to work with over the years. Further thanks are owed & given to the following people & organizations who've helped make this change possible:
Paul, Caleb, Matt, Brad, & Joseph at Widgets & Stone for the brand strategy, brand guidance and new identity for Medium.
Matt Sears at Haskel Sears Design for fine woodworking and hand-crafted office furniture.
Thomas Palmer, architect extraordinaire, for our new offices.
Wyatt at Adams Lithographing for finding a great solution for a difficult business card design.
Cy at Wonder Press for the right (and cost-effective!) solution for our stationary.
Roxanne at Graphic Works for the last-minute printing (and re-printing) of the signs for our front door.
