Medium designed and built an online application to help Medicare Part D recipients identify the most cost effective drug plan to accommodate their particular prescription medications. Using the system, prospective Medicare enrollees can enter their list of prescription drugs and the website will calculate which of the available Medicare Drug plans offers those drugs at the lowest price. The system integrates with the Medicare Part D database provided by the U.S. Government's Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The tool was used to enroll thousands of Medicare recipients during both the 2007 and 2008 Medicare Part D Annual Election Period (November 15th through December 31st). In 2008 the application gained national media attention for its roll in assisting General Motors retirees find Medicare assistance after losing health care coverage.
